Lara van Breda is a Mathematics master’s student at TUM, currently working on Bayesian Deep Learning for diagnostics and manufacturing with an industrial AI partner for her thesis. She is a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge, jointly supervised by Ajith Parlikad, Vincent Fortuin, and Tommy Rochusen. Previously, she contributed to an ERC-funded NLP project at LMU on hate-speech detection in the Global South and conducted research in Hong Kong under Professor Benny Hon on AI methods for matematical finance. Next to her studies, as a scholar of the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft, Lara has initiated interdisciplinary AI initiatives focused on AI literacy and bridging academic research with real-world impact.
